The secret? Really, well... ok.
The secret, is that XP can be traded for beer and O'Reilly books at your local "PerlMart."
So, if you give a good, honest reply, and it gets a nice reputation, you get enough alcohol to keep you going and answering more questions, earning more alcohol!
That or we just really like perl... and like to answer questions/brain teasers.
