Just in case anybody super-searches this node, the Oracle equivalent here is:

INSERT INTO ATABLE (
        FIELD1
        )
SELECT  SEQ_NAME.NEXTVAL;

[download]

Then to retrieve the sequence value just entered:

SELECT  SEQ_NAME.CURRVAL
FROM    DUAL

[download]

    Alternatively, 
    INSERT INTO <TABLE> ( foo, bar)
VALUES ( sequence_name.nextval,  'value_for_bar');
