allyc has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Monks,

I am currently having some problems connection to our Company Remedy system using Perl and DBD ODBC. I have a copy of the Remedy Database ODBC Driver, and I am able to access Data from the system using applications such as Access.

I can connect to the DSN with out any errors, but when I try and run any query I get the following message returned.

DBD::ODBC::db prepare failed : ISAM No data found (SQL-S00)(DBD: st_pr +epare/SQLPrepare err=-1)
I have also tried using win32::ODBC but I get the same error returned. The SQL Statements I am using work with the driver because I have tested then in Access with out any problems.

I have also managed to create a Linked Table in Access, and then use ODBC to connect to the Remedy System. This works but Access messes around with the data. If it is any help we are using an old version of Remedy ARS (http://www.remedy.com)

Can any one point me in the right direction??

Many Thanks,

Alistair

    I was just thinking about how I could build access from one of our provisioning tools to our Remedy system this morning....I haven't yet had time to test or try anything...but I did come across a CPAN Module that appears to interface to Remedy's Action Request System that I am going to give a shot.

    Remedy::ARSTools looks to provide significant help in this effort

    If you showed us some code, we could probably give you a better answer. There are slight variations in which functions are supported in various databases. A SQL statement in access, may not work in remedy.
