Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I am learning Perl, but I need a web host to learn on. I am a student who will be studying abroad without my own computer. Does anyone know of a good free web host on which I can get an account to learn Perl? I hope this is not too off topic. Thank you for your time.

It would be hard to find a web host (unix, that is) that did *not* offer perl. Check the version, however: there are plenty of web hosting companies that offer perl, but then you learn that it's 5.003 or even perl4! (They are out there *shudder*) Check for a recent version: this not only helps you, but is a good indication that someone there actually knows what they are doing and are more likely to have a secure box and know how to fix problems that come up, perl-related or not. Also ask them what additional modules they have installed and if they will install new ones on request. With all the competition out there, you can afford to be this picky. :)
