InfiniteSilence has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

When you download the PerlMonks-2.2 (Zzamboni) code and run it on WinXP it shows "All is quiet" when it really is not. I am running the getchat.pl in the distribution.

My question is this: how does this work? A debug of the code show that Perlmonks/Chat.pm is using LWP::UserAgent to get the ?node=chatterbox+xml+ticker. The ticker shows some standard xml, but no comments from users eventhough there are people actively chatting. Logging in with username and password does nothing really different other than go to node 109 and log you in first.

Anybody else seeing this?

Are you talking about http://perlmonks-mods.sourceforge.net/? Did you file a bug report?
I was waiting to see if anyone else got the same problem. Maybe it was some perl configuration on my machine. Are you experiencing the same (or similar) problem?

    Hey InfiniteSilence

It might have to do with your username, lol.
But seriously, I had the same experience. I figured the module is broken but you might fix it using the advice found here

Personally I didn't bother and am using the fullpage chat untill I finish chatterpot or tea-kchat, depends on whichever I get finished first.
