Is there any interest in or problems with allowing snippets to be shown on the frontpage?

Um. That's it. I'll stop here.

I guess my first quesion would be "why?"

Before we would suggest having development effort (which might not be all that much in this instance) put forth, we should have a compelling justification for the change.

I don't have any idea why posts to the section can't be FP'd currently either...perhaps there was a good reason that someon e who has been here longer can offer.

My two-cents...in reading through the snippets I found some nifty stuff, but nothing so fantastic that I would have FP'd it..so I can't see the point in making the change.

I've found interesting stuff there and would personally get more out of it than Craft or Obfu. YMMV. I try to track the snippets but would also like to have the best ones (according to the front-pager) served up to me.

I can live without it but *if* it's easy and popular...

while i am not sure that the front page is the most splendid location for the solitary snippet, might it be possible at some stage, given some encouragement of some moderate amazon-book-token-ish sort, for grinder the snippet master to produce a snippet mailing list? i dare to hope ;-).

(apologies for vulgar and paltry nature of bribe. i go to 50 sterling.) ...wufnik

Perhaps snippets don't belong on the front page (The Monastery Gates), but it could be a very useful if the front page for the snippets section not only had a most recent but included a top 10 list or top 100 would be even better. And then just to take it a little farther, each category in snippets could have a top ## list. OK that's probably going a bit too far but it is a nice thought. Oh, I forgot, the snippets section doesn't have categories. Perhaps it would be a more logical first step to create categories for snippets as that would make it easier to find what you are looking for.
