in reply to to strict or not to strict

The programmer who always chooses not to use strict and warnings because of the emmision of annoying warnings or compile errors is a careless programmer (or a trivial programmer). strict makes non-trivial programming easier, not harder. Careful programmers may choose to disable one or more strictures for the duration of sections of code that require facilities that are disallowed by strict. There is little to debate, either you are careless, trivial, or strict.
