I've some JAPHs of which I'm proud. And I've a program that generates a regex. It's not the program that makes me proud, but the regex does. Does that count?

      "Putting a silly grin on one's face" is perhaps my strongest motivator; it's what attracted me to Perl (and Perl Monks) in the first place. Back in the early 2000s, I remember how much more fun the Perl culture felt compared to Python and PHP, for example.

      Given the many jokes from Larry Wall sprinkled throughout the early Perl source code and elsewhere, I'd say humour has always been a big motivator for Larry too. Just a couple from Larry Wall wikiquote to give you a feel:
