henry m has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I am 'reading' an Excel spreadsheet using $$ref_cell_array = $worksheet->range($excel_data_range)->{'value'}; The spreadsheet has been prdcued by another person. Even though the cell is empty I sometimes find that my Perl applciation 'thinks' that the cell has a '0' in it. How do I prevent this happening?

You should probably check for a defined value before using whatever you get. But I don't know. You didn't give enough problem context for anyone to be more helpful.

If I were having that sort of problem, I would create my own SS that I could fill with various numbers, text and formulas to see if I could reproduce the problem. Some formulas may not result in an actual number, but the presence of the formula in the cell might give an odd result. YMMV
