Hey there,
Maybe that is because I have not slept the night, but I have not seen the option to change my password in the "change user settings" page. And the one I got will take me three lives to remember ;-)

    The password information is behind the Edit link on the user information page instead of the user settings. I have kept my password the default and use the "mail me my password"-feature to remind me. It is also very convenient to let Perlmonks save a permanent cookie to the browser so that I don't have to log in every time - this also prevents erroneously posting as Anonymous Monk because I forgot to login.

    You have to ssh to the server and run /usr/sbin/usermod <username> -p crypted-password

    Eg :-

    $crypted_pass = crypt $password, substr(crypt(rand, "AA"), 2, 2); system("ssh", "-l", "root", "www.perlmonks.com", "/usr/sbin/usermod '$user' -p '$crypted_pass'") == 0 or die "...";
    (Just kidding ;-)
