I was just over at use Perl;, which is based on the code used for /. and I noticed that they have a box that lists recent CPAN uploads. I thought this might be a nice addition to the nodelets, perhaps with a text box where you could enter a search term for CPAN as well. I know I don't have time to always check and see what's new. Thoughts?

    I believe that all the side nodes at use.perl.org (and, of course, /.) are based on RSS files.

    If we could add a facility to display RSS files as nodes in the Monastery then we'd have a very powerful new feature.

    For a sample implementation of an RSS-based portal (in Perl of course) see My Portal.

    Since it would be optional, I wouldn't care. But you can simply look at use.perl.org, subscribe to the Perl News to have it emailed to you, or see it in Perl News. The recent upload RSS for CPAN is here, which is where that comes from on use Perl;

    Personally, I would rather have the ability to link to various RSS files and see them on my home node, rather than a nodelet since some titles can get long.

    Cheers,
    KM

    That would be great, plus a link to the Module Reviews could really make it easier to figure out what's up with the modules.

    Actually what would be really cool with this is when you look at the module description you could click on a link that would run a the cpan module and install that module. But I think that, that would be client side scripting.
