What's the difference? Or do you mean that I'll be denied for "PerlJam" because it's already taken by someone else? That's a separate issue. But that's okay as I have another name I'd like (and in fact already "own"). I just want to make sure I can transfer all of the duff stuff to the other name.

Should I send a message to one of the gods directly or is there another forum where I should ask?

Given Aristotle's answer, it looks like I'm wrong (or at least that there is a precedent for doing what you ask.) I hadn't even checked the name PerlJam, but you are right; it's taken.
