Any Northern Californian monks interested in meeting up over the holidays? (PodMaster? This time don't just walk in the door and back out ;-) Maybe meet up in the city on the 30th?

Sounds like a Good Idea(tm), we get to put a face to the Mythical People in the CB.

I am available at the Tied House in San Jose at 5:30 PM on December 26, same deal as last year. Or any other day, but farther north. I will need to finalize plans by about 10 AM, December 26, if we are going to meet then.

    Thanks, great idea!

Update: Since I haven't gotten any replies on meeting on 12/26, I'll assume that no one else is going to be there. I'll most likely still be there but I won't be looking for anyone. Perhaps someone else can suggest another time and place.

It's very short notice for the 26th eh? But yeah, I was thinking North as in the city as in be sure to wear a flower in your hair. Exploratorium is fun, but might not work so well for pints and parler?

I'd like that. I'll look at my calendar, but it's kinda short notice for planning around other plans that have already been planned.

Any ideas yet as to where in San Francisco?

(so many nodes and so little time ... )

I like to meet at the Exploratorium, and I can provide a few guest passes, but I have a hard time hearing my cell phone inside, so we can meet at a specified time and place if a few of you would like to avoid paying the entry fee. It does not have a bar, however, so I am open to other suggestions!

I'm going to be at the Tied House in San Jose Friday the 26th at 5:30 anyway for pre-game pints and I'll be in a generous mood. I'm thinking pitchers this time, so we don't have to wait for service. Go Sharks!

I'd still like to meet some monks, but the 30th is fully committed. From the Monk Map I see that there are many monks in the Santa Clara Valley. Perhaps we could meet at some park or other public open space in that area on some other day.

      (Is that vauge enough?)

Okay, so how about we meet at the Exploratoreum on 12/30 at 18:00? I realize some monks live in SJO area, but some are farther north and east too :-P Plus, there are a few short films showing at 13:00. We'll try meeting up at the entrance before 13:00 and 18:00? Any other suggestions?

PS> I'm in the city anyways on the 30th so I'm trying to squeeze as much as possible out of my gasoline dollar ;-)

From 1-6pm? I could conceivably make it at 1 (if caltrans delivers, will have to check on that).

update: Jeez, it looks I will be driving (about a 52mile drive according to yahoo/mapquest).

MJD says "you can't just make shit up and expect the computer to know what you mean, retardo!"
      I run a Win32 PPM repository for perl 5.6.x and 5.8.x -- I take requests (README).
** The third rule of perl club is a statement of fact: pod is sexy.

The Exploratorium hours are 10AM to 5PM on the 30th. I suggest that we meet in the parking lot that is just across the small perimeter road that is near the front door of the museum. I suggest tailgating at 12 noon, or some other time if it is better for more people. Plan on meeting under the eaves near the entrance if it is raining hard.

I will show up a bit early and bring a few tailgating goodies:

      • cookies
      • root beer
      • 'hot coffee'
      • 'apple juice'
I have two free entry passes to the museum to give away. Parking is free. Without the passes, the museum adult price is $12. The food at the museum is better than most other museums I've been to, but it ain't cheap.

      Update:
Here's a cut at my schedule, others are welcome to join in but of course TIMTOWTDI. You might not want to miss the cookies, I think they are very good.

12 noon to 12:50 PM Meet in parking lot
12 noon to 12:50 PM Beverages served in parking lot
12:50 PM Cookies served in parking lot
1 PMMovies, for those who are interested
1:30PM until closing or whenever Explore the Exploratorium
3:30PMIf anyone is interested, we could go to ThirstyBear Brewing Company, 661 Howard Street San Francisco, CA 94105

      Weather forecast:
Partly cloudy, highs mid to upper 50s. Northeast wind to 15 mph.

The 30th is good for me. Though Santa Cruz is closer to Bikini Bottom that SF, but I am off all day and if is continues to remain wet I can make into the city.

Okay, so it looks like we will be meeting at the Exploratorium but I am confused as to when?

Show up when you can. toma and belg4mit are probably going to show up around 12:00-13:00. Someone will probably be around until at least 17:00 or so? Hopefully the weather will be better by then.
