Is process running?

Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi Monks, I am running ActiveState perl on Windows2000, and I need to determine whether a process (x.exe) is currently running. Can anyone tell me how do this? thanks, Michael

There are several ways to determine if a process is running or not. You could have a look at the Win32::Process::Info or Win32API::ProcessStatus modules.	[reply]

One good answer already... you can alternatively use WMI to do the 'hard' work... see node How to Start a Process in a Remote Win32 Machine using Perl and WMI for an example. You can also visit Dave Roth's site for lots of Win32 stuff...ProcessTree etc.	[reply]
