It would be nice to have a revision number included in the div class wrapped around sig's, so that you could suppress someone's current sig but then see it again as soon as it was updated, i.e. instead of:
<div class="pmsig"><div class="pmsig-107642">
have:
<div class="pmsig"><div class="pmsig-107642"><div class="pmsig-107642- +rev1">

I have a feeling this just a little(!) OTT. It would be easier to just have the sig somewhere visible (users homenodes, for example), so that you could look and see if the sig has changed. Ok, so it wouldnt be an automatic notification, but still..

As far as I am concerned, PodMaster can put what he wants in his signature but how much work would it be for someone to make the change? Does everyone start with rev0 on their current sig (with rev1?). Will any change mean a new revision number?

I had envisioned any change bumping the revision number. No opinion on the rev0 or rev1 (or even pure numeric 0 or 1) but everyone would start the same.

I hate to say, but I very much doubt that this will happen. FWICT it would require a new field in the DB, and frankly for minimal utility. And I say this from the POV that I am almost certainly going to be the one who patches it next. To be honest, I dont even want to support Aristotles "two-classes-in-one" tags.

But maybe a god will see your request and do the required DB stuff and then itll happen, but they have an awful lot of other stuff to do thats higher priority.

Sorry bud. It is a good idea on paper at least, but...

That would only lead to Monks with questionable sigs to replace their sigs with other questionable sigs on a regular basis.

Hey one could probably write a nice Perl script to automate that!

I suggest you write a filter that checks for sigs you don't want to see and deletes them before they are rendered in your browser.

If questionable sigs were replaced with other questionable sigs, presumably one would just switch to filtering out any of that monk's sigs.

Since it sounds as if this idea would involve a database change, perhaps another way to have some notification of when a sig being filtered changes would be to have a change of sig automatically be considered a significant update.
