though these logs reach quite fast hugh amount's of data you might wan't to look at one of merlyn's colums, where he suggests to and show's the HowTo store these Data in an RDBMS using DBI.

    These are system logs rather than Apache logs, so the above isn't relevant. (Interesting though.)

    I quite like the idea of storing the firewall logs in an SQL database - its the kind of thing one would like for an IDS (intrusion detection system). It would be relatively easy to adapt the above program to do that.

    I expect that is overkill for my use which is to see which lamers have been hammering on my cable modem connection and the company servers ;-)
