For anyone that hasn't yet noticed, im2 is a kind of information system/gateway between the Perlmonks Chatterbox and other things. At least, thats what the original idea was, these days it seems to be doing more 'reducing load on Perlmonks', by grabbing the CB data only once, and farming it out to several clients.

And that is what this is about.. Since some people were not happy with im2s telnet interface (it acts as a telnet server, clients can login and see the CB scrolling by), we now proudly present.. the.. IM2 Fullpage Chat !

This is basically a clone of Fullpage chat, which refreshes a little faster, while putting less strain on the PM server(s). Also, no login/giving of cookies is required, as the normal fullpage chat talkbar is used. (If you find its contacting the wrong one of Perlmonks' various addresses, add a '?base=http://www.perlmonks.net' or similar, to the URL.)

There are some slight differences to Fullpage chat, Links should all work, although 'id://' type links will not show the title of whatever they are pointing to, that might get fixed sometime. Also the 'tidying up' of html tags is currently non-existant, so runaway bold tags will make the whole thing bold until closed. Fixing this is on the TODO list. The allowed tags are the same as in the PM Chatterbox, so no scripting etc ,)

Anyway, have fun.. Just yet another little service, to try and give something back to Perlmonks..

Thank you!! Now I have a new toy! Wheeee! Toys, Toys, Toys!!!

Seriously, Thank You. I played with the Java client a couple of months back and was not exactly happy with it. It kept going away at the drop of a hat, and was a serious drag on the (admittedly underpowered, fourth hand, almost paleolithic) lap-top I am running on at home. The Fullpage Chat client is the way to go. And anything that helps off load the Prime Servers is a Goodness. Thank you Again.
