Dearest Monkage,

So I'm currently hashing out with a client a german/english shopping cart for her home business. I've got (what I think is) a pretty good plan of attack:

• CGI::Application as a development framework, using different "instance scripts" to set the language used in a session
• mySQL for inventory storage/management. When a new item is added, the admin would put in the german and english text,
• HTML::Template for HTML, using the correct language template for a session.
• Cookies for tracking session and other stuff.

I'm lucky enough that the client speaks german and can do the page design. She's going to make the HTML templates.

On to the question- This is my first bit of coding in a different language, so any guidance is appreciated.

• What traps/issues should I be aware of?
• I'm aware of the "locale" settings, but does this only come into play for pattern matching?
• I'm pretty sure mySQL should work with german/english seamlessly. Am I wrong?
