It depends on what do you mean by filehandle is in fact STDOUT. E.g. consider the following:
$ perl -E'open my $foo, "<&=1"; say $foo->fileno; say $foo == \*STDOUT + ? "STDOUT" : "Not STDOUT"' 1 Not STDOUT
