The latest release of the Java module is 9 years old. It doesn't seem to be actively maintained any more (there are bugs on its bug tracker eight years old without any action on them), and seems to fail its own test suite on all platforms consistently.
I'd recommend trying Inline::Java instead which is more actively maintained (though the last release is still more than 2 years old). Yes, it has some pretty long-running bugs too, but at least the module maintainer seems to be taking action against some of them (most are marked open and have replies from the maintainer). It is well reviewed, and people seem to be using it (including me), unlike the Java module.
