Very frankly, it sounds like you're trying to do the work of a relational database
That's EXACTLY what I'm trying to do (to a 15-year-old DOS program) but I didn't want to distract from the problem at hand. I don't have an xy problem, I need to act the part of an RDB.

The reason isn't important, can you traverse the structure or no?
