When you searched for Excel on CPAN, what modules did you find inacceptable? Also, in what way were the installation instructions as distributed with those modules confusing?

My personal recommendation is to either use Win32::OLE and to automate Excel (see Using Win32::OLE and Excel - Tips and Tricks), or to use Spreadsheet::ParseExcel together with Spreadsheet::WriteExcel.
