Instead of assigning:

$xml_data->{$root}{$table}{NEW2}{KEY} = [$key]

Try pushing:

push @{$xml_data->{$root}{$table}{NEW2}{KEY}}, $key;

[download]

There's a few examples of that in the code I posted earlier.
