Merry Day fine monks!

I am trying to read CPU stats from windows machines using Win32::OLE to get at the nasty bits. The recommendation for this task is not to keep creating a wmi object for each look, but to create a refresher and make a refreshable object to peek at the stats: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/windows/desktop/aa393026(v=vs.85).aspx . I testing on XP in a dosbox that is run as administrator.

Any ideas other than walking the cursed path that is VB? A Google found others with the same error and no resolution other that that it may be a 64/32 bit issue. This machine is 32bit all the way so that can not be the one.
