Hello,
#LONG (can be ignored):#
I have found myself seeking the wisdom, and acquiring the fruits others' labor, of the monks at Perl Monks on numerous occasions; however, this is the first time that I have found a question that has not previously been voiced.
I am currently using Text::GenderFromName to parse through form input data from a web form front-end (PHP) (namely, first name) and I find that the current list that this module uses only returns values other than UNDEF for approximately 30% of our users. The rest it simply can not properly determine their gender.
Prior to heading to the SSA website myself, copying and pasting a giant list of names one-by-one, and inserting these into a DB to provide hashes to this module for male/female . . .
#SHORT (where the actual question begins)#
I am curious if anyone has ever come across an accurate an extensive gender-based name list which includes both 'Anglo' and 'Hispanic' names that I could utilize with Text::GenderFromName.
If you have, I would greatly appreciate your input as I rather enjoy avoiding re-inventing the wheel.
Thanks!
