Dear monks,

Given all the hoopla about Apache avro in the big data (java) community, any thoughts on perl "avro"? I pretty much exclusively program in perl and do not see interoperability with other languages as a big plus point.

Is there any benefit in terms of speed or compression that should make me consider avro? What would be other comparable perl alternatives for it (other than Json or XML)?
