exec never returns, but any child that doesn't get reaped becomes a zombie_process. See perlipc, wait, waitpid. The easiest way to handle it is with $SIG{CHLD} = "IGNORE";, which tells perl to autoreap.
#11929 First ask yourself `How would I do this without a computer?' Then have the computer do it the same way.
