My worst experiences have been in the "wrong file" classication.
In fact, just a couple of days ago I was pulling my hair out wondering why my extensive sendmail.cf changes were not being implemented properly by the sendmail daemon.
Reason: I was editing the wrong fricking sendmail.cf >:(
