I'm not sure if this is included in 'Flymake', but I REALLY appreciate being able to execute my scripts from within Geany, and then once I've seen the result, close the terminal window. I know you can do this in Vim, but Geany has this beautiful documents sidebar...
If I was able to controll the input from within the editor (similar to http://ideone.com, I would consider that an IDE feature
