system; linux mint mate, w/ xampp, for development.
I have used several perl scripts, each adding there part, to generate a file in htdocs, the file is owned by deamon (os) w/ rw,r,r permissions. I tried a 'system chown user:user /opt/lampp/htdocs/file.pl' w/ system mv /opt/lampp/htdocs/file.pl /opt/file.pl' both call returned 'Permission Denied'. I would like to move the file out of the server and into the OS for security reasons once the file is complete, and away from possible hackers. Servers are not very secure by there nature. So, how can i use a perl scrip to move the file. I do not want to copy the file into another directory, I want to move THIS file out, and into another directory. Much effort has gone into getting this file formatted correctly, and all that would be lost in a double open read/write to another file.
thanks, and please respond to grumpyoldphuker{at}gmail{dot}com.
