Thank you for your time and effort. I tried to apply your solution to my working example and I got this reply:

unknown option '--imageformat=EPS' at rrd-sample.pl

Well I guess on RRD::Simple it is not able to handle this option. Maybe on RRDTool::OO it is possible. I was thinking of possibly implementing a working example also on this one. I will have a go on the next couple of days and I will let you know.
