I'm not sure that I fully understand the question, but ... is this something like what you're after- 
foreach my $z ( %abc) {
    push @ab, "-$z";    
}

[download]
or possibly @ab = map { "-$_" } @ab; ?? 

foreach my $z (keys %abc) {
    push @ab, "-$z";    
}

[download]
or possibly @ab = map { "-$_" } keys %abc; ??
