Here's something that works on a Fedora 20 box:

But when I code the same thing in Perl, it fails .. unless I use an http connection.

use strict;
use warnings;
use LWP::Simple;
if( defined(my $Response=get(
  "https://www.dtdns.com/api/autodns.cfm?id=skunk.dtdns.net&pw=passwor
+d")) ){
   print "$Response\n"
}
else { print "Update failed\n" }

Anyone able to suggest what's happening here?
