The more difficult part is to find the OID for the item you are trying to meter.
First - find out the relavant part of the MIB from the manufacturer of your hardware/firmware.
Use a simple snmp "get" command to make sure you can get that value, and that it makes sense.
Then convert that request into a script that runs periodically.
