I'm tightening the bolts on a rather intricate perl module someone else at my company started. There are lots - I mean LOTS of function calls in this - and depending on various conditions none, some or many of them can be called in various sequences.

Question: is there a convenient way, besides putting

print STDERR "functionname is running\n";

at the start of every function call, that I could dump this type of info to stderr while it's running?

These functions are being called by name, not from a dispatch table, so it's kind of tricky to see another convenient way of doing what I want it to do ...
