I created a module called printname.pm contents are here

package printname; use strict; use warnings; my $name = (); printname($name); sub printname { ($name) = @_; print "Hello, $name\n"; } 1;

I created a directory called printname under C:\Perl64\site\lib and C:\Perl64\lib\printname and copied the file printname.pm to both directories.

My script looks like this:

#!/usr/bin/perl use strict; use warnings; use lib "C:/Perl64/lib/printname"; use printname; printname("John");

when I run the script I receive the following error:

C:\Scripts>perl testmodule.pl Use of uninitialized value $name in concatenation (.) or string at C:/ +Perl64/lib/printname/printname.pm line 12. Hello, Undefined subroutine &main::printname called at testmodule.pl line 8.

Line 8 is printname("John"); in the script any ideas? I am new to creating custom modules. I am running Perl v5.16.3 on windows 7. Thanks

Line 12 is print "\nHello, $name\n";
