Firstly, this post is about Perlmonks, not perl, so should have been posted in Perl Monks Discussion (Where should I post X? is linked to on each page you can post in.). Likely you failed to login, or visitied a different domain (for example, logged in to perlmonks.org, clicked a link to perlmonks.com). Anonymous monk can not update posts.
