btw, it's only the number of files which is relevant to the overall cost of shelling out or inlining not the total size of data. It does not matter if you have 1000 files of 10TB or 1000 files of 10KB, cost of shelling out for 1000 files is the same. (Edit: assuming that shelling out or inlining read file from disk and not receiving it from caller)
