I can't think of any good reason for it to be allowed. That would be about 20 (corection, that would be more like 1000 pages, since newlines stack up vertically) pages of whitespace, which cumulatively, could put an unnecessary load on the server, as well as browsers.

I don't know of any other forum software that does not truncate excess whitespace by default. ("Excess" generally reconned as any more than one paragraph break).
