Midwinter would be a good day to start a new year for it would /just/ about may brighten the mood in regions that are not tropical.

Else, make it either Friday or Monday to extend the consecutive free-to-me paid vacation to 3 days, as far as living in a state of USA where New Year's Day is a paid holiday is concerned. Failing that, make it either Thursday or Tuesday so that I could choose to extend the vacation to 4 days by taking leave of a day.
