and I don't think the problem is fetchrow, it's just formatting code to do what it needs to do exactly.
I am big fan of using fetchrow, and for a long time have had no problem with it.
I use
fetchrow_arrayref
fetchrow_array
fetchrow_hashref
fetchall_arrayref
fetchall_hashref
but I have a reason why I use fetchrow; every coder has his own way of doing things.
you can't blame IBM for using fetchrow.
