Why CGI 500 Internal is hard to debug

I was a retired Senior Programmer/Annalist and DBA work both on mainframe COBOL And unix Perl work for National Semiconductor, I had company cell phone with me, When Mainframe Down Data center call me, most time is middle night to use my computer at home link to Mainframe, The Mainframe tell me what is last COBOL Statement cause computer down, it was easy find the bug.

When I retired i am owner of blackjackstory.com to share my story and karaoke for Fun, but any CGI program error the error message is 500 internal error on browse and AH01264 script not found or unable to stat on my error log

The error message did not tell me much, I just wander why CGI has 500 internal error why not keep the last CGI script number on error log as the Mainframe COBOL does?

I had question as cgi HTML head error
