The easiest way to rotate the log every day is to use Re: log4Perl dynamic filename its FAQ 
log4perl.appender.Logfile.filename = sub {
my $date =  POSIX::strftime('%Y-%m-%d', localtime );
return "myapp-$date.log";
};
