Nice article, which helped me develop a standalone script when "find" is found as the script runs "top to bottom" ... but I can't get it to work when I put "find(\&do_something_with_file, $dir);" into a sub routine / function, (the $dir is being passed into routine, and it calls the "do_something_with_file" function ... but it can't "see" any data / recurse. I've a feeling it may have something to do with ARGV, $_ or other variables not being passed ... but no idea what!
sub reportStruct(){ # Provides complete record of all the folders on development site find(\&procFiles, "$startPath"); my $out=join("\n",@file); open ($fh, ">", "siteFull.txt"); print $fh $out; close ($fh); print "Reports Created"; } sub procFiles{ if ($File::Find::name =~/transfer/){ return; } if (-d){ push(@file, "--> DIRECTORY ".$File::Find::name); } if (-f){ push (@file, $_); } }
What's also strange is that Find::File::Rule (which I thought was part of the same prog) gives a different output on Windows. Seems the latter gets sorted alphabetically, so folders drop in mid way through a listing. At least Find::File reports the files in a directory before recursing into the folders.
