Thanks for the info about Win12. I wasn't aware of that. I shall procrastinate a while longer. :-)

I, too, am a "command line guy". That was my main motivation for installing Cygwin. If I'd already had Ubuntu, I probably wouldn't have bothered. Perhaps there's some benefit to Ubuntu+Cygwin of which I'm unaware.
