either: avoid require by putting the exec part in a BEGIN block to execute it at compile time prior to use
or: avoid exec-restart-voodoo by importing the necessary ENV directly from a shell file. (see last update in Re^3: How to "source" a shell file in Perl? (Trojan Dump))
combine both
