Interesting but doesn't seem to work on my ubuntu:

$ echo -e '#!/usr/bin/env -S perl\r\nprint "Foo!\\n";' > foo.pl
$ chmod 755 foo.pl
$ ./foo.pl
/usr/bin/env: ‘perl\r’: No such file or directory
