So... Did you check that /etc/syslog.conf is correct?

Edit the configuration and replace the 

*.info            |${FIFO}

[download]
with 
*.info            |/var/log/fifo.logdog

[download]
(be sure that there are TABs, not spaces, separating the sides.) Then send SIGHUP to syslogd...
