Well, you should definitely use what works for you both technically and within your needs as a user. I haven't used IDEA but it sounds nice.

I'm just pointing out other options that your original node seems to dismiss as unworkable. This isn't to change your mind about what you should want to use. It's because this thread will hang around as long as Perlmonks does. People looking for their own solutions should have the information they need.
