I am right now bidding on a project that would de-commission a very large Perl application that is now being maintained by a contract group that is a little bit too full of itself for the present company management’s taste, and, in their opinion, behind the curve.

I wish you good luck with that bid. It's hard to make a living.

But if you have such little regard for Perl and the old fogeys who are still farting around with it, here behind the curve (whereas you are up ahead, around the bend), why o why do you insist on posting here, every day, answers that are less helpful, for the novice monks for whom the monastery exists, than no answer at all (poor bastards, it's like being handed a map and not being told it's upside down)?

Surely you would be of more use to the world if you were to share your insight about the latest and greatest technologies on somewhere like StackExchange, where people want to hear about it? What is your motivation in attempting to befuddle every new monk who enters the Perl monastery?

(Please don't answer that question. Just go to S:O and bless them with your pearls of wisdom.)

I say this not to be an ass, but because it really would be something that would benefit you as well as the rest of the world.

The way forward always starts with a minimal test.
